Location Privacy in Mobile IPv6

چکیده
The Mobile IPv6 protocol includes a route optimization mechanism that improves routing efficiency by informing correspondent nodes about the current care-of address of the mobile node. Mobile node physical location may be associated with its topologically correct IP address. Revealing the mobile node’s care-of address can therefore be used to track the mobile with certain accuracy, which compromises the location privacy of the mobile node. We propose correspondent node authentication based on user-friendly identities towards the mobile node to facilitate the decision about whether or not a route optimization procedure should be initiated towards a given correspondent node.

ALPP: anonymous and location privacy preserving scheme for mobile IPv6 heterogeneous networks
The integration of mobile IPv6 heterogeneous networks enhances networking performance; however, it also breaks mobile node’s anonymity and location privacy. In this paper, we propose an anonymous and location privacy preserving (ALPP) scheme that consists of two complementary subschemes: anonymous home binding update and anonymous return routability. In addition, anonymous mutual authentication...

Mobile IPv6 will be the basis for the fourth generation 4G networks which will completely revolutionize the way telecommunication devices operate. This paradigm shift will occur due to the sole use of packed switching networks. Mobile IPv6 utilizes binding updates as a route optimization to reduced triangle routing between the mobile node, the home agent and the correspondent node, allowing dir...

There is a growing concern with preventing unauthorized agents from discovering the geographical location of Internet users, a kind of security called location privacy. The typical deployments of IPv6 in mobile networks allow a correspondent host and any passive eavesdroppers to infer the user’s rough geographical location from the IPv6 address. We present a scheme called Cryptographically Prot...

The global telecommunication infrastructure will slowly converge toward an integrated packet switched network using the Internet Protocol as the common communication technology. First evidence of this convergence is the deployment of the third generation wireless infrastructure that brings together the radio access network and core network by using the next generation Internet Protocol IPv6. Th...

Mobile IP (MIP) enables the Mobile Node (MN) to move around without loosing their transport-layer connectivity by using resources in the foreign domain network. MIP is expected to be the core infrastructure of future mobile communication, but certain level of security services must be provided before the wide deployment of MIP. Security services, such as authentication and access control, have ...
